Ghana-Bound Child Trafficker Arrested In Abia

 

A suspected child trafficker, Obinna Ibe, has been arrested by men of the Abia State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping three young girls and transporting them to Ghana.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Maureen Chinaka, made this known in a statement she signed and available to newsmen in Aba.

The police image maker disclosed that the suspect, who is an indigene of Achara Isuochi in Umunneochi LGA of Abia, was arrested on March 8 by Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters.

The case was reported to the police by the parents of the victims.

“Onyekwere Christian (male) and Nneka Nwokoma (female), both from Achara and Amuda Isuochi, reported that their daughters had been missing for over a week.

“The missing girls were identified as Goodness Onyekwere, 15, Ezinwanne Onyekwere, 16, and Viviane Ndukwe,13.

“In response, the Police promptly initiated an investigation that diligently pursued available leads and evidence to determine the missing girls’ whereabouts.

“The result of that meticulous investigative effort was the successful arrest of the suspect connected to the case by police in that division,” she said.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy simply identified as Ekine, who was reported missing on August 7, 2023, has been found dead in a river around Mgbuodohia village in Rumuolumeni community, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

According to Today FM, the late Ekine, who lived in Mile 2, Diobu, Port Harcourt, was reported missing to the police by his parents.

A source stated that a corpse was found floating on the river by a boat driver, and the parents of the teenager have confirmed that it was that of their missing son.

Rivers State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident, said the boy has been buried as his parents showed no interest in the case being investigated.
