Gunmen Abduct Immigration Officer, Two Others In Ikom-Calabar

Some yet-to-be- identified gunmen have reportedly abducted an Assistant Superintendent of Nigeria Immigration Service, Imojara Godwin Imojara, and two other people on Thursday.

According to reports available to NIGERIACRIME, the armed abductors whisked the officer and the two other victims away, while they were travelling on the infamous Ikom-Calabar highway to Ogoja where Imojara was posted for Saturday’s governorship election.

The three victims were travelling in a Toyota Corolla when the attacker struck and took the away.

According to a source, who does not want to be named, family members of the officer were contacted and N50 million was demanded as ransom by the abductors.

“An Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Imojara Godwin Imojara was kidnapped in Biase while on his way to Ogoja from Calabar yesterday. He left Calabar at about 3:14pm and was kidnapped at about 3:30pm.

“He was going for special election duty.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force in Cross River State, Irene Ugbo, assured the general public that they are working to ensure the release of the victims.

He stated that, “The CP Election has directed that drastic action be taken. It is being worked on. Let us hope and pray that before tomorrow (Saturday), everything will be fine.”

Between October 2022 and now, more than 60 motorists and travellers on the axis, were reported to have been abducted, including former minister Usani Usani, who escaped death by the whiskers.
