Gunmen attack construction workers in Owo

Gunmen have attacked Craneburg Construction Company in Owo LGA, Ondo state, leaving two workers injured.

The company was said to have been attacked around 9:45 pm on Wednesday.

This comes weeks after gunmen attacked St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, killing 40 persons.

Confirming the incident in a tweet, the Ondo state police command said the injured have been taken to hospital where they are responding to treatment.

They got the windscreen of the caterpillar of the construction company damaged and the injured men have been receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

“By the grace of God, the situation is under control and I urge everyone to go about their normal businesses as I am on my way back to the Technical College where the newly recruited Amotekun officers are undergoing training.”

“Tonight, there was a shooting incident at CRANEBURG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Owo, policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to hospital and they are in stable condition,” the tweet reads.

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, special adviser to Ondo state governor on security matters, told journalists he saw two security men lying on the ground upon assessment of the scene.

“I am just leaving the scene now where I went to assess the situation and I realised that the two security men on ground were injured as the attackers shot into the air,” he said.

Three people have been reportedly killed and 13 others abducted in separate attacks on Damari community in Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna.

Ishaq Kasai, chairman of Birnin-Gwari emirate progressives union (BEPU), in a statement on Wednesday, said there were two attacks on the community on Monday and Tuesday.

According to Kasai, the gunmen killed three people in the attack that took place on Monday, and he listed the three people killed as Hashimu Dan-Daura, Nazifi Adamu, and Alhaji Dangude.

He said in the Tuesday attack, the gunmen looted many shops, and on their way back to the forest area, they abducted 13 people at Hayin-Gada in the same Damari community.
