I killed the victim to avoid being exposed—kidnapper

A 25-year-old kidnapper Anas Auwal, a native of Tsangaya village in Ningi local council Bauchi State who killed his five-year-old captive, Abba Yahuza, has revealed that he did so because his family failed to raise five million naira ransom.

Anas Auwal, who was arrested by operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command said “I lured Yahuza into my room with ‘sweet’ on October 11. Subsequently, I contacted his father over the phone to demand a ransom of five million naira. But his father said that he could not raise the demanded ransom.”

Afraid that I might be exposed if I released the victim, I hacked the victim to death in my room and waited till night time, bundled the victim in a sack and buried his body in a shallow grave.”

Confirming his arrest, the spokesman Bauchi State Police Command Ahmed Wakil, said the suspect Anas Auwal, killed his five-year-old captive, Abba Yahuza after the latter’s father failed to raise N 5 million ransom.

Explaining further, Wakil said the suspect lured Yahuza into his room with ‘sweet’ on October 11 and subsequently contacted his father over the phone to demand the ransom. When the captive’s father responded that he could not get the demanded ransom. Fearing he could be exposed if he released the boy, Auwal killed his captive and later buried him in a shallow grave.

Meanwhile, Umar Mamman Sanda, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police has directed that the suspect be charged to court for prosecution.
