A Federal High Court, Makurdi, the Benue State capital has remanded a superintendent with the Nigeria Correctional Service, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Mr Eyimoga Moses, over job racketeering.
The prison official was dragged before the Justice Abdul Dogo-led court by Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on one count of corruption.
The allegation levelled against him was that he collected N800,000 from a couple for two vacant slots at the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The offence was contrary to Section 1(1) of Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006, the Counsel for the anti-graft agency, Bako Alonge, told the court.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The spokesperson for the ICPC, Mrs Azuka Ogugua, in a statement on Friday, said the defendant was admitted to bail and ordered to be remanded until he met the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned till June 20, 2023, for trial.
In another news, five people were confirmed dead while four others sustained injuries in a fatal motor accident in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
An eyewitness stated that the incident happened Saturday morning when a vehicle loaded with passengers and animals lost control.
He said five persons and animals were burnt to death after the vehicle lost control and rammed into a school building at Sabuwar Gwaram junction.
Spokesman of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence, Jigawa State command, CSC. Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident to newsmen.
According to him, “An accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at about 0600hrs when a white-coloured Peugeot J5 bus with registration number NSR 693 ZF loaded with passengers and animals lost control at Sabuwar Gwaram Junction.
“The vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a nearby primary school classroom, both vehicle and the building went up in flames.”
He added that 17 cows and a goat were also burnt to death.
The NSCDC spokesman said the deceased were buried at the instance of their relatives according to Islamic rites.
