The Kano State Police Command has paraded a member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Isiyaku Ali Danja Gezawa and 164 persons over their attempt to set ablaze the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a police station within the state.
The lawmaker, who represents the Gezawa Constituency of Kano State, was reported to have led a team of hoodlums to raze the INEC collation centre in Gezawa.
Following the violence that trailed the elections, the INEC announced that the House of Assembly result of the area is inconclusive.
The DIG in charge of the election in the state, Hafiz Muhammad Inuwa, told newsmen on Sunday while parading the suspects that they were arrested for various political crimes during the conduct of the recently concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections.

He stated that those paraded are accused of alleged ballot box snatchings, disruptions of elections, engaging in violence, wielding dangerous weapons and engaging in drugs related crimes.
The DIG warned that the police would not tolerate breakdown of law and order.
He assured that the suspects will be investigated and prosecuted accordingly.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, urged the public to cooperate with the police in ensuring that they do not engage in wild celebrations that might lead to a breach of the law, reminding them that police have banned wild celebrations in the state.
