Kano Man Strangles Pregnant Lover To Death

There was palpable tension in Tudun Wada Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State as a man, identified as Philibus Ibrahim allegedly strangled his pregnant girlfriend, 22-year-old Theresa Yakubu, to death.

The man, alongside his accomplice, one Gabriel Bila, both of Unguwar Korau Tudun-Wada LGA in the state, have since been arrested by personnel of the Kano State Police Command.

The incident was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Mamman Dauda, who also confirmed the suspects arrest on Tuesday.

Dauda said the case was reported to the station by a Good Samaritan, who saw the lady lying on the roadside unconscious on Kano-Jos Road in Anadaria Village, on April 2 at about 4:30 p.m.

Quoting him, “On receiving the information, a team of policemen rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to Tiga General Hospital, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor.

“Investigation, however, revealed that the victim left Nassarawan Kuki to Yantomo Village in Garin Babba LGA of Kano on March 27, at about 6:00 p.m.

“In the course of the investigation, the principal suspect was arrested and confessed to committing the offence by using the victim’s veil to strangulate her.”

Dauda said that the investigation was ongoing, and once completed, the suspects would be charged to court.

Meanwhile, the wife and son of the village head of Nasarawa in Tsanyawa LG in Kano State have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be terrorists.

The incident was also confirmed by CP Dauda, who said 38-year-old Halima Kabiru and Dahiru Kabiru (20) are the victims.

He said, “On April 2, at about 12:45 a.m., we received information that seven gunmen stormed the residence of the village head of Nasarawa and kidnapped his wife and son.

“The kidnappers took the victims to an unknown destination.

“On receipt of the information, we immediately formed a rescue team in neighbouring Divisions. As we speak, the team is working assiduously to rescue the victims unhurt.”

He described the incident as unfortunate but expressed confidence that the victims would be rescued and the abductors arrested.
