Kano Youths Set Suspected Kidnappers’ Houses Ablaze

Some youths in the Yantama Village in Doguwa LGA, Kano State have displayed their anger towards some suspected kidnappers who allegedly killed his five-year-old victim.

Reports revealed that the youths burnt down the houses of these kidnappers, which were located in their village.

Confirming this development, the Spokesman for the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi haruna Kiyawa, said the incident occurred after the prime suspect, Ado Ibrahim had demanded a a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) from the family of the victim.

He added that the five-year-old was killed by the kidnapper even after demanding the ransom.

According to him “On 28/10/2022 at about 1700 hours, a report was received from a resident of Doguwa LGA, Kano State, that his five years old son, Hamza Harisu was kidnapped and a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) was demanded by the kidnapper(s) and later, negotiated at Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00).”

According to the spokesman, after the deceased family reported the case at the station, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Abubakar Lawal, raised a team of Operation Restore Peace to arrest the culprits.

Kiyawa noted that the consistency of the police in digging the case was what led to the arrest of 29-year-old Ibrahim and three others suspects at his hideout.

The Police spokesman said “the suspect confessed that he singlehandedly kidnapped the victim on 27/10/2022 at about 1900 hours when it was dark in a nearby bush and strangled him to death.”

He said the victim’s corpse was later discovered by a team of Police detectives and was taken to Doguwa General Hospital for Medical Examination where the doctor confirmed him dead.

Kiyawa said after the news spread in the community, some angry youths went for reprisal and subsequently burnt down the houses of the arrested suspects already at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation.
