Misconduct: NCS Dismisses 9 Officers, Retires 25

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) has dismissed nine senior officers for gross misconduct and indiscipline.

Also, 25 senior officers of the service were forcefully retired for offences considered as inimical to standard practices.

The Service’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Umar Abubakar said in Abuja on Sunday that four other personnel were issued with letters of warning.

He quoted the Controller-General of the Service, Mr Haliru Nababa as announcing the decisions after approval by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board.

Nababa said the service would not relent in taking disciplinary measures against any personnel who failed to measure up to the Standard Operating Procedure of the Service.

While the CG warned that there would be no room for indolence and acts of indiscipline in the Service, he assured that those who performed creditably would reward in line with the rules of engagement of the Service.

The NCS boss was quoted to have said, “The Reward Fund Unit is fully activated and very soon, staff with exceptional performance will be invited to Abuja.

“This will be for them to receive rewards for their show of gallantry and dedication to duty.’’

He appreciated the public for cooperation and citizens to accept offenders that had served terms and showed enough penitence so as to break recalcitrance.
