Mob Attacks Delta Court, Frees Suspects

There was tension at the Magistrate Court 1 in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA, Delta State as a mob freed some suspects in the court room.

The mob reportedly overpowered the security officers at the court before going ahead to free the suspects standing trial on Tuesday.

Reports confirmed that the Ogwashi-Uku community is tensed after the police launched a manhunt for the attackers.

Multiple sources confirmed the names of some of the suspects as Elue Nwaolise, Azuka Obata, Ifechukwude Ikewenji and Osim Okelue.

According to reports made available to NIGERIACRIME, the suspects were charged to court by officers from the SCID following allegations of involvement in the attack Ogwashi-Uku vigilance members.

The suspects were reportedly granted bail but were unable to perfect their bail conditions.

It was gathered that the court officials moved to take the suspects into prison custody pending the perfection of documentation and verification of the sureties.

The mob was said to have assaulted the police officers, tearing their uniforms to shreds.

Delta Police Command spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.

He said efforts were on to re arrest the fleeing suspects and their collaborators
