Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Prof Onje Gye-wado.
The daredevil gunmen abducted the politician in the early hours of Friday when the assailants invaded Gwagi village in Wamba Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, according to a source within the community, has caused panic amongst residents who now feel unsafe.
Confirming this, the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, vowed that the victim will be rescued by men of the command.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state CP Maiyaki Baba has mobilised and deployed “reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilante, and local hunters” to rescue the victim alive.
The PPRO further told newsmen that the armed assailants invaded the residence of the victim at about 12:30 am and shot sporadically before whisking him to an unknown destination.
“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to Wamba Division swiftly moved to the scene, but the hoodlums had fled with the victim before their arrival.
The police spokesperson further appealed to members of the public to assist the command with useful information that could help in the quick rescue of the former deputy governor.
Recall that the abductee is a one-time deputy Governor of the State who served during Abdullahi Adamu administration.
