Salisu Buhari, one of the inmates who escaped during the last year’s attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has been rearrested in Nasarawa State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the 24-year-old was arrested, alongside his accomplice, Zubeiru Ali, for theft.
The police spokesperson made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Lafia, the state capital on Sunday.
Nansel disclosed that the two suspects are notorious for stealing motorcycles from residents of the Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Nansel said, “On April 6, 2023 around 10 pm, police operatives attached to Nasarawa Division in a sting operation arrested the duo of Zubairu Ali, 27 years, and Salisu Buhari, 24 years, for motorcycle theft in Nasarawa LGA of Nasarawa State.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are responsible for most motorcycle snatching and theft in Nasarawa LGA and its environs.
“Upon interrogation, Salisu Buhari confessed to have escaped from Kuje Prison when the facility was attacked last year, linked up with his crony, and went into the criminal venture.”
While warning all criminal elements to leave the state without further delay, the PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Maiyaki Baba, had ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia, for a thorough investigation.
