The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday said claims that bombs were buried in strategic positions in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory is false.
This was made known by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement he signed in Abuja.
He described the information as fake news and lamented that some persons are spreading the untrue information after the terror alert by the United States, the United Kingdom, and others.
The force spokesperson stated that among the individuals making the claim “are presumed peace ambassadors and patriotic agents of national unity in Nigeria.”

According to the statement, spreading of false information like that is capable of causing more panic across the country and the FCT, which will do Nigeria no good.
He restated that the FCT is safe for all to stay in and that there is no imminent threat, nor is the FCT saturated with bombs as speculated.
The police advised residents “to disregard this fake news which was purportedly sponsored to create fear in our people and heat up the polity.
“We will continue to adopt all effective operational strategies to decimate the activities of non-state actors and other criminal elements in the country.”
