Operatives of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command have arrested two suspects involved in illegal dealings in petroleum products in Lagos.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the suspects, Muhammed Issah, aged 51, and Michael Adie, aged 28 were found carrying unquantified suspected adulterated AGO, loaded in a Mercedez Benz short truck, with registration number T – 11957 LA.
The duo were intercepted along Ikate Road, in the Lekki axis of the State, during a routine patrol of the Command’s operatives at about 7:13 AM on Tuesday, 7th February 2023.
In a related development, on Wednesday 8th February 2023, in the wee hours, the Corps’ operatives also seized Premium Motor Spirit ( PMS ), wrapped in twenty ( 20 ) sacks ( white) suspected to be stolen and estimated to be about two thousand ( 2,000 ) litres in total at both Lekiti and Ganho creeks of Badagry, respectively, during their routine patrol and surveillance operations.
The State Commandant has ordered that the suspects and exhibits from both operations highlighted above to be brought to the State Command Headquarters, in Alausa, Ikeja, for further interrogation and investigation on the matters, being presently handled, by the Intelligence and Investigation Department of the Command, in a bid to bring culprits to book.
It was gathered that the arrest is coming barely three weeks after resumption of the new State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai.
According to DSC Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, the new strategy and approach of anti-vandalism of Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai has continued to yield positive results, in the State without mincing words.
Therefore, in line with the renewed and reinvigorated efforts of the new State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, against oil pipeline vandalism, illegal dealings in petroleum products, economic sabotage and other forms of criminality, in Lagos State, the Corps has once again made another successful arrest of two persons suspected to be involved in illegal dealings in petroleum products, particularly, Automotive Gas Oil ( AGO ).
Meanwhile, CC Alfadarai further reiterate the Command’s resolve and commitment to stamp out vandalism of all oil pipelines, illegal dealings in petroleum products and vandalism of other critical national assets belonging to the Government ( s ) in the State
