Osun Female Bar Operator Killed, NSCDC Begins Investigation

A female bar operator in Ikirun has been killed, Kehinde Adeleke, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command confirmed.

According to Adeleke, who identified the popular bar operator as Iya Bisola, Saturday, her lifeless body was found at her residence in the Oke-Glo area of the state.

She was reportedly strangled to death by yet-to-be-identified persons on Friday.

One of her customers discovered her corpse and raised the alarm.

The command’s spokesperson stated that investigation has started to reveal the culprits.

“A popular beer parlour vendor, called Iya Bisola, at Station Road, Ikirun, was allegedly strangled to death by unknown person(s).

“Though the reasons for her assassination are yet to be unraveled, our personnel visited the scene of the incident at Oke-Glo, Ikirun before the corpse was evacuated,” he said.

Her death has led to apprehension among the residents of the Oke-Glo area of Ikirun as residents gathered in front of her residence in a bid to confirm the authenticity of her death.

Meanwhile, the police in Bauchi State have arrested a suspect who allegedly removed the hand of a 25-year-old man and stabbed him in the head.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement on Friday, said the suspect had been on the command’s wanted list for two years over thuggery and causing grievous harm. He said the suspect committed the crime with two others still at large.

He noted that his luck ran out when a police patrol team raided a black spot in a suburb of Bauchi metropolis and arrested him.

The statement read, “On Saturday, July 22, 2023 at about 6.30 pm, police operatives attached to ‘C’ Divisional  Headquarters, while on a visibility policing patrol, identified and raided a black spot located at Sabon Layi, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis which led to the arrest of one Muhammad Abdullahi, aka Luwawu, male, of the same address.

“He has been on the police watch list since 2021 for alleged criminal conspiracy, thuggery, causing grievous hurt and attempting to commit an offence to wit culpable homicide.

“Sometime in 2021, the suspect criminally conspired with Sani Danfada, male, Manu Maidawa and two others, now at large, all of the same address, while armed with machetes and other deadly weapons attacked and stabbed one Mubarak Abdullahi, male (25) of Unguwan Sarakuna area on his head and cut off his left hand from the Articulatio radiocarpalis.”

He noted that the investigation revealed that the suspects committed the alleged offence, adding that Abdullahi confessed to committing the offence during interrogation.”

He added that efforts were being intensified to track down the remaining suspects, after which they would be charged to court.

Similarly, the PPRO said detectives attached to ‘C’ divisional police headquarters arrested six suspected thugs of the dreaded Sara-Suka group.

He said that they were arrested on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at about 7.30 pm while raiding a criminal hideout situated at Nasarawan Madina Quarters Bauchi.

He said preliminary investigation revealed that “the suspects are into armed robbery and act of thuggery.”

He said exhibits recovered from them include one long knife and some dry leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp, adding that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime.
