Osun Man Threatens To Kill Igbos In Yorubaland, Arrested

A man, Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly threatening to kill all Igbos residing in the South West part of the country (Yoruba land).

The development was made known on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin.

SP Opalola told newsmen that the suspect had, prior to his arrest, taken to his Twitter handle to call for the killing of all southeasterners living in Yoruba land.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect was arrested on Thursday for his tweet, which violated the social media policy on hate speech.

The statement reads, “The Osun Police Command has arrested one Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe ‘m’ 28years who violated the social media policy on hate speech.

“It could be recalled that, on 18th May, 2023, the suspect, Kehinde Adekusibe, on his Twitter handle, tweeted “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with a passion. They are violent people. They are worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back”.

“Immediately the police command received the report, police detectives from the cybercrime section at SCID Osogbo swung into action and through intelligence-led investigation, the suspect was arrested at Ilesa, where he hibernated.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and he will be charged to court after the completion of investigation”.

In another development, a young man has been found dead inside his apartment at Osina street, Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt City local government area of Rivers State.

Otubong, as he is popularly called, was a hair stylist in the area.

He was reported to have spent the night with a yet-to-be-identified lady on Thursday night, but was found dead on Friday morning.

A source within the area confirmed the incident.

A senior Police Officer, who spoke under the condition of anonymity disclosed that two drinks (black bullet), two packs of tramadol and another sex-enhancement drug were discovered in the room.

The incident has, however, been reported to Illabuchi-Azikiwe Divisional Police Station, Mile 2 Diobu.

In the meantime; the Rivers State Police Command is yet to release an official statement on the development.
