Policemen attached to Agbado Division, Lagos State Police Command is currently investigating two suspected armed robbers who invaded and robbed lodgers at a hotel along AIT Road.
The duo were arrested at about 12:30 am on Monday 15, April 2024 when the division received a distress call that there was an ongoing robbery incident at a hotel along AIT Road.
It was learned that the Divisional Police Officer DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene to engage them. Subsequently, two of the robbers were arrested.
Also, four locally made guns, one Toyota Corolla Saloon car, one Toyota Camry Sloon car, five live cartridge ammunitions, four expanded cartridge ammunition, two Nokia phones, one Itel phone, one Tecno phone, one Jackknife, six ATM cards, three wrist watches, three female handbags and the sum of fifty-four thousand naira were recovered from the suspects.
According to one of the hotel staff, the robbers numbering about nine had shot and injured two lodgers before the police arrived at the scene.
Confirming the incident the Spokesperson Lagos state police command SP Benjamin Hunydeyin said: “Preliminary investigation revealed the gang of armed robbers were nine in number, who came into the area from Agbara. The victims injured by the robbers have been taken to hospital and are receiving treatment. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the other members of the gang.”
In a related development, the Lagos State police command has arrested a serving member of the Nigeria Army attached to 159 battalion Yobe State for stabbing a commercial motorcyclist during a disagreement.
It was learned that the incident happened in a lounge located at Itamaga Ikorodu area of Lagos on Saturday, April 13 2024.
According to the Chief Security Officer of the Lounge who reported the case at Ikorodu Divisional Police on Saturday, April 13 2024, at about 2 am, one lcpl (name withheld) a serving member of the Nigeria army attached to 159 battalion Yobe state, with a gun-like jack knife, stabbed Saheed Isa a commercial motorcyclist, on the upper left side of his stomach when a misunderstanding ensued between them at the bar, thereby causing grievous injury.
Reacting to the incident the Spokesperson Lagos state police command SP Benjamin Hunydeyin said: “The scene of the crime was visited by detectives of the division and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention where he was admitted and is responding to treatment.”
“Meanwhile, the suspect has been arrested. an investigation is ongoing,” he added
