Police Arrest Adamawa Man For Stabbing Neighbour To Death

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one Garga Joggi, for allegedly stabbing his neighbour, Umaru Sanda to death.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, Joggi, who admitted to committing the crime, said he stabbed Sanda because the deceased flashed a torchlight on his mother.

It was gathered that the said mother was in the company of some other women at the time Sanda flashed a torchlight.

The spokesperson said the 20-year-old Garga Joggi, who is an indigene of Waltadi community, in Song Local Government Area, killed the deceased on January 20.

According to Nguroje, Joggi told the Police that it was the deceased who started beating him, and that on his part, he used a knife in his possession and stabbed the deceased at the back.

Nguroje said the suspect would in due time be prosecuted in court over his action.

In another news, 11 passengers were burnt to death beyond recognition in a fatal crash that happened on Sunday in Ondo State.

The victims were said to be heading to Lagos in a luxury Marcopolo bus when they met their death on the busy Benin-Lagos highway.

The fatal accident occurred at Soka Bridge in Ore, headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area.

According to sources, a truck which was on a one-way had a head-on collision with the Marcopolo bus.

One of the sources who craved anonymity stated that the bus went up in flames immediately after the accident occurred.

While confirming the accident, the Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Ezekiel Son’Allah, said the accident occurred as a result of overspeeding on the part of the drivers of the vehicles involved.

Son’Allah added that the corps contacted the Step Down Company Fire Service and Nigeria Police for emergency services support.
