Police arrest lodger who absconded with Abuja shortlet’s funiture

The federal capital territory (FCT) police command has announced the arrest of the lodger suspected to have stolen funitures in a shortlet in Abuja.

In a Twitter post on Monday, the command also disclosed that investigation has commenced on the matter.

“While expecting the complainant to reach out to the Police. We wish to intimate members of the public on the arrest of the suspect,” it added.

“Investigation has commenced and the input of the complainant is needed to lend credence to the process.”

On Sunday, Akinleye Esther, the shortlet owner in Abuja, has narrated how an occupant of the facility allegedly fled with items in the apartment when his rent expired.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Esther said she started the hospitality business about two months ago.

According to her, the unidentified client came to lodge in the apartment with his girlfriend and initially paid for a period of one week.

The entrepreneur said he would later extend his stay to three weeks but when his rent expired on August 20, she discovered he had allegedly stolen all items in the apartment.

Esther said items allegedly stolen by the client include television, bed, and curtains.

“Good evening, I have a shortlet (Gwagwalada, Abuja) business that i run and he just started about 2months ago the last client that came to stay in the apartment, firstly he paid for 1week with his girl friend and later extended with 2 weeks making 3weeks in total, his rent expire today Saturday 20th August and by the time we got to the apartment we realised that all the loads in the apartment are gone (pictures are above before and after pics) the only thing he left was broom,” she wrote.

“Some of the things he carried are my sol solar kits which contains Television, DStv kits including plate, 3 differents solar panels he went on top of the root and removed all, fan, bed, bed frame, plate, curtains, spoons, water reserve e.t.c. We just started this business.”

Esther said she has reported the matter to the police in Abuja for investigation.

She also enjoined the public to assist with any information regarding him, adding that his phone number has not been reachable since then.

“Phone number he dropped for his next of kin is not going through likewise his phone numbers. We have been to the police station to report the case but they said they will track his number (when his number start going through) which I don’t know if the number will ever go through,” she added.

“We were able to get two of his pictures which is attached, doing our conversion when he just came he said he lives in Kubwa, Abuja. The girl friend came from Benin. Kindly help us post, anyone that can help us locate him or his family member.”
