Four officers of the Rivers State Police Command have been arrested for snatching ballot boxes during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
This arrest was disclosed in a statement by the command via its verified Twitter page on Monday.
The statement confirmed that the command apprehended the personnel, which consist of one officer and three Inspectors, for interrogation.
The statement read partly, “The police pick-up van in the trending video has also been impounded for thorough investigation.

“The Command hereby assures the electorate in Rivers State of its unalloyed commitment to promoting the rule of law and ensuring that all offenders found culpable are adequately sanctioned.
“The Command urges all residents to remain calm and await the official announcement of the result of the election.”
Earlier, the policemen were seen in a viral video snatching ballot boxes into their van.
The video raised a lot of dust, with so many social media users alleging that the policemen are loyal to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who many alleged to play god in the state elections.
There have been a widespread condemnation of the video and the governor with over 64,160 person’s signing a petition against Wike for foreign countries to shut their doors against him.
The governor, as at the time of filing this report, is yet to react to any of the allegations against him.
