Police bursts terrorists syndicate in Zamfara State

Operatives attached to the Zamfara State Police Command have arrested six notorious suspects for banditry Kidnapping and Cattle Rustling.

NigeriaCrime.com gathered that two of the suspects identified as Umaru Buba aged 21, of Baburasa Village in Kainji LGA of Niger State and Babuga Manu aged 20 were nabbed for Cattle Rustling.

While 30-year-old Musbahu Aminu of Yabawa Village in Maradun LGA was apprehended for banditry Kidnapping.

Also, the policemen neutralised a bandit while repelling bandits who invaded and attack a community in Gusau and Maru LGAs.

Also recovered were two (2) AK 47 Rifles, 104 rounds of live ammunition and two Magazines for AK 47 and a Bunch of Charms.

Confirming, the arrest, SP Mohammed Shehu, Police Public Relations officer, Zamfara State Command said on 1st January 2023, Police Tactical operatives while on confidence building patrol along Gusau – Magami – Dansadau Road received a distress call about bandits planning to block the road and attack commuters and by extension some villages.

The Police operatives immediately mobilised to the locations and engaged the bandits in a serious gun battle. Luckily enough, one of the bandits was neutralised and others were repelled by the superior firepower of the Police operatives, as such they retreated to the forest with possible gunshot wounds.”

Two AK 47 Rifles, Two Magazines, 104 rounds of live ammunition and a bunch of charms belonging to the bandits were recovered at the scene.”

SP Mohammed Shehu disclosed that the Police Tactical operatives while on confidence building patrol/ Stop and Search acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of Umaru Buba and Babuga Manu.

It was gathered during interrogation by the Police, the suspects confessed to being into Kidnapping and Cattle Rustling in Various states such as Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and other States in the North. The suspects further confessed to belonging to the gang of Bello Turji where they took part in the kidnapping of an unspecified number of victims in which millions of Naira were collected as ransom.
