The Niger police command says it is investigating what is suspected to be a murder-suicide case involving a couple in Suleja LGA of the state.
NigeriaCrime had reported that the suspect, Adeniyi Jose, an indigene of Akure, Ondo State, attempted to commit suicide after strangling his wife to death over allegations of infidelity on Monday, August 8, 2022.
Jose and his 39-year-old wife Chioma Gloria Ibeh were married for eight years before he killed her.
Wasiu Abiodun, police spokesman in the state, announced the investigation in a statement on Thursday.

According to the police spokesperson, an unusual noise was heard in the residence of one Adeniyi Dennis, a resident of SDP area, in Suleja on Monday night.
He said police operatives attached to ‘A’ division, Suleja, were deployed to the scene and they had to force open the door of the apartment.
He said inside the apartment, the body of one Gloria Chidinma was found on the bed, with a rope tied around her neck.
Abiodun also said Dennis, identified as her husband, was found unconscious and he was suspected to have taken a poisonous substance.
He said they were both taken to the general hospital in Suleja, where Chidinma was confirmed dead on Monday.
The police spokesman added that Dennis was confirmed dead on Tuesday around 4:45pm.
“We have since evacuated the bodies to General Hospital Suleja mortuary for autopsy,” NAN quoted Abiodun as saying.
“However, the unfortunate incident is under investigation while we await medical examination result.”
