Suspected House Burglar Arrested By Osun Amotekun

A 37-year-old man, Sola Ajibade, who specialises in breaking into houses and stealing has been arrested by operatives of Osun Command of the Amotekun Corps.

The development was made known by the Commander of the corps in the state, Retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, who stated that the suspect hails from Ibadan, Oyo State.

Adewinmbi said Ajibade was arrested in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun, on Monday.

His words, “Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps arrested the suspect, Sola Ajibade, 37, after he had burgled a house at Ode-Omu and stolen a 32-inch Plasma TV.

“The suspect used a strong log of wood to break the burglary bars of a house to gain entrance, where he thereafter stole a TV.

“He capitalised on the fact that a lot of people have gone to their various places of work to operate, but luck ran out on him as he was spotted and arrested by residents.”

Furthermore, he said residents later called on Amotekun operatives from Irewole Area Command, Ode-Omu, to take the suspect away.

He said, “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the act and that it was not his first time breaking into houses and stealing, adding that he often sold items stolen at Makola, Ibadan.”

The commander said the suspect had, however, been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation, investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, rescue workers are still searching for a yet-to-be-identified adult who reportedly jumped into the Lagoon at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident on Tuesday

“The incident happened truly. Men of the Marine Police and the Lagos State emergency officials were at the scene. Efforts are still on to bring out his body dead or alive,” he said.

NIGERIACRIME reported that the victim, whose body had yet to be recovered as of the time of filing this report, jumped into the lagoon around 2.43pm.

It was gathered that emergency responders were alerted and they immediately went to the scene in a bid to recover the victim from the water.
