A 16-year-old boy, identified as Emmanuel John, has been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command for allegedly killing his father, Monday John.
The incident was made known by the Commissioner of Police of the Command, CP Haruna G. Garba, who disclosed that the suspect committed the crime around 10pm on Tuesday, May 2.
Garba, during a press conference at the command headquarters on Friday, stated that Emmanuel used a pestle to kill his father, following a fight between the deceased and his wife, Mrs Mercy John.
The police boss told newsmen that the suspect, who was angered by the fight between the two parents, took sides with his mother and allegedly killed the father using a mortar pestle.

He said, “It is also interesting to note that one Emmanuel John, age 16 years was arrested on 2nd May, 2023 for killing his father by name Monday John. It all happened when the suspect’s mother and father engaged in a physical fight.
“The suspect took sides with his mother and used a mortal pestle and hit hard on the father’s head which eventually led to his death. The suspect will be arraigned in juvenile court at the conclusion of the investigation”.
A police source also revealed that a case of culpable homicide was reported to the Karshi Police Station by one Yusuf Ayuba, on Wednesday, May 3.
According to him, Emmanuel is in police custody and will be arraigned in a juvenile court at the conclusion of police investigation.
