As the Rivers State crisis deepen, security operatives in the state have fired water and teargas at Goveror Siminalayi Fubara on his way to Rivers State House of Assembly complex.
The shocking incident happened on Monday morning, following the removal of Edison Ehie as the Leader of the House on Monday morning.
According to reports, House members scampered for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.
24 members of the Assembly signed for the removal of Ehie.
Recall that there was a fire incident at the Rivers State House of Assembly on Sunday night which greatly affected the chamber.
The recent incidents may be connected to the alleged plot to impeach Governor Fubara by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that a fresh crisis had engulfed the Rivers State House of Assembly amidst rumours of an impending impeachment procedure against Fubara.
The situation was further made tenseed when the majority leader of the assembly, a supporter of the governor, was suspended, deepening the chasm between opposing factions.
The incident is a developing story.
In another news, at least six persons were feared dead on Sunday following multiple attacks by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on a community in Gwer West LGA of Benue State.
It was gathered that the attack lasted several hours before the invaders left without resistance from the defenseless community.
According to a source, Mr Perver Acham, “The herdsmen numbering 10, in the early hours of Sunday, attacked Tse Gamber in Sengev Council Ward, killing three persons with one Iorhon Dam being taken away by the attackers.”
The source further said Camp, Nagi, Mbachohon Council Ward, a settlement along Naka-Agagbe road, was attacked Sunday evening, with three persons killed and several others injured.
He added that the bodies of the victims could not be removed for fear of another attack.
The Benue State Police Command PPRO, SP Sewuese Anene, who confirmed the attacks, said she lost three of her cousins in the Sunday morning attack.
No official statement from the military operatives stationed in the areas at the time of this report.
