Operatives attached to the Igbogbo Division Lagos State Police Command are currently investigating three suspects for being in possession of large quantity consignment of ammunition of live cartridges at Unity Estate, Poro-Imope, Idiroko, along Itamaga-Ijede Road, Ikorodu.
The suspects identified as Tukur Abdullah aged 35, Muazu Telim aged 50 and Dahiru Idris aged 36 were arrested on their way to Katsina on Saturday when the two commercial vehicles loaded with ammunitions were intercepted State.
NigeriaCrime.com learned that the activities of the trio were uncovered when residents of Unity Estate, Poro-Imope, Idiroko, found a scrap yard where live cartridges have reportedly stored the area at about 12.30 pm.
Sequel to the discovery, residents who noticed the suspicious movement raised the alarm and notified local vigilantes in the community.
According to a landlord in the community who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the discovery of consignment of ammunition took place at about 12.30 pm when one of our neighbours who was passing by noticed a suspicious move by the group and thereafter raised the alarm that attracted other residents.”

“Apart from their suspicious movement, we noticed the men were loading some items in two vehicles with the motive of transferring them to an undisclosed destination.
Immediately, we quickly alerted members of Oodua Peoples’ Congress, OPC and Ikorodu Peace Initiative, who rushed to the scene and arrested the three suspects in the process.”.
Ironically the scrap yard has been operating in the area before now but nobody suspected that they could be dealing in cartridges until we witnessed what transpired today,”
The three suspects were later handed over to men of Igbogbo Division for interrogation while the cartridges, vehicles and other items were recovered from the scene.
Confirming the incident, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, said, “Operatives of Ikorodu Division of the Lagos State Police Command have intercepted two commercial buses loaded with a large quantity of live cartridges, three dismantled motorcycles and some personal effects at Poromope Estate, Ijede Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, Tukur Abdullah ‘m’ aged 35, Muazu Telim ‘m’ aged 50 and Dahiru Idris ‘m’ aged 36 were on their way to Katsina State.
“The suspects, recovered exhibits as well as the vehicles, with registration numbers KMC 438 YK and KMC 394 XF have been transferred to the Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja for further investigations. ”
