Three notorious armed robbers, cultists arrested in Edo state

Operatives of the Anti-Robbery team, Ugbekun Divisional Police Headquarters, Edo State Command have arrested three dare devil-armed Robbers and members of Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity.

The suspects identified as Bright Omonowa aged 34, Clifford Patrick aged 22, and Issac Peter aged 23 were arrested on Sunday, 27th November 2022 at about 11:30 AM by the Operatives who stormed a certain Hotel along Enomayo, Off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City following credible intelligence on the suspects clandestine meeting in the Hotel.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that a Cut-to-size locally made gun and a Black Beret of Eiye Secret Cult Confraternity was recovered during the arrest.

Confirming their arrest SP Chidi Nwabuzor, Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, said the suspects were arrested on Sunday, 27th November 2022 at about 11:30 AM by the Operatives who stormed a certain Hotel along Enomayo, Off Upper Sakponba Road, Benin City following credible intelligence.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner Of Police Edo State Command, CP Mohammed Dankwara, warned the members of the various Secret Cult Confraternity and their sponsors to desist from their impious activities in the State or be ready to face severe punishments.

While reiterating his commitment to fighting arduously to see that crimes and criminality are reduced to the barest possible minimum, if not eradicated to pave way for peace and tranquillity Edo State is known for, CP Dankwara stated that DPO Ugbekun Division, Benin City, has duly transferred the suspects to Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command discreet investigation and prosecution.

In a related development, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Mohammed A. Dankwara has frowned at the incessant cases of jungle justice in the State and therefore implores citizens of Edo State to repose a little more confidence in the Rule of Law and the Law enforcement institutions.

The CP made this call on Monday, 28th November 2022, following the death of a man, whose identity is yet unknown, in the hands of a mob, on Sunday 27th at Iyanamo Community, Off Ekehuan Army Barracks, Benin City.

The victim was allegedly mobbed to death over an allegation that he stole an unregistered motorcycle.

Four persons linked to the death of the deceased have been arrested and are assisting the Police in their investigation. Meanwhile, the CP has directed that the case be transferred from Evbuotubu Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Benin for further investigation.
