Three Political Thugs Killed Ahead Of Kogi Guber, Weapons Recovered

The Joint Security Operation has killed three suspected political thugs in Anyigba, Eastern Senatorial District of Kogi State barely four days to the state’s governorship election.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye on Tuesday.

The police image maker also revealed that seven suspects were arrested, while two AK47 rifles were recovered from the thugs.

Aya said a building where political thugs are being housed by political parties was raided by officers of the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

He also noted that 2 suspects sustained gunshot injuries.

The statement reads in part, “During the Cordon and Search Operation, the Team, even after identifying themselves came under serious gun fire and in response three of the political thugs were gunned down and two AK47 rifles recovered while two members of the team sustained gunshot injuries and seven suspects arrested.

In another news, an Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced Pam Dung, 21, to six months imprisonment for destroying pop ceilings and stealing electrical fittings worth N 2,417,000.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.

Bokkos also gave the convict an option of a N50,000 fine and asked him to pay the complainant a compensation of N2,417,000 or 12 months imprisonment in default.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the Rantya Police Station on Sept. 7 by Mr Kalu Okomba.

He said the accused person broke into his house, vandalised his pop ceilings, and stole all the electrical fittings in the building valued at N 2,417,000.

The prosecutor further told the court that during the police investigation, the accused confessed to having committed the offence.

The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
