Three suspects have been arrested in Abuja in connection with an armed robbery, car snatching and one-chance.
The suspects, apprehended by the police in Abuja is linked to a spate of armed robberies, car snatchings, and one-chance activities within the Federal Capital Territory.
This development was made known by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, on her official X account on Saturday.
The statement, titled, ‘FCT Police Nabs Suspects In Armed Robbery, Car Snatching, One Chance Activities’ noted that the suspects arrested include one Gabriel Abba, Sunday Abba and Abdulkareem Jaffaru.
She stated that the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Haruna G. Garba is resolved to stamp out crime and criminality in the FCT.
The statement partly reads, “In a proactive response to actionable intelligence, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command successfully apprehended Gabriel Abba, Sunday Abba and Abdulkareem Jaffaru in December 2023.
“The trio is linked to a spate of armed robberies, car snatchings, and one-chance activities within the FCT.”
Meanwhile, a truck carrying bottled water on Saturday crashed at Hawan-Kibo, on the Jos-Abuja expressway, leaving scores of motorists and commuters stranded in a gridlock.
The Public Education Officer of the Plateau Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Peter Longsan confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos.
He said that the accident occurred at about 4:00 pm, stressing that the tanker fell while crossing the expressway, blocking both lanes.
“A water tanker fell on the highway around Hawan-Kibo, Jos-Abuja road. It fell and crossed the road leaving a lot of motorists stranded.
“But our men are already on ground, making frantic efforts to clear the road and ease traffic flow.
“We appeal to motorists to be patient and not panic, our men will soon clear the road,” Longsan said.
An eyewitness at the scene of the accident, Mr Mohammed Suleiman, who was on his way to Abuja from Jos, told reporters that commuters had been stranded there for many hours without movement on both sides of the road.
“No vehicle is moving from both sides, those going to Abuja from Jos, and even those coming from the North East cannot go further. Ditto for those coming from Abuja either to Jos or the far North,” Tola said.
