There was pandemonium in Moro town, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State as a groom-to-be, Toromade Adebowale, was shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
The deceased, according to a source, hailed from Edunabon town, Ife North.
According to the close family source, the deceased, a commercial tricycle rider, was in Ede town earlier on Friday with his family members for an engagement ceremony with his pregnant wife.
“Shortly after the mini ceremony, Debo attended the swearing-in of the newly elected leaders of the commercial motorcyclists association in Edunabon, being a member himself.
“Shortly after the swearing, he joined others to escort their leaders who came from Ile-Ife to Moro junction. It was at the Moro junction that they heard gunshots from unknown persons,” the source said.
The victim and one other member of the association were shot by the hoodlums but Adebowale was confirmed dead on arrival at a nearby hospital while the other victim is still receiving treatment.
Reports also indicate that the victim’s family has opted not to pursue the case as his remains were committed to earth on Saturday morning.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.
She, however, revealed that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the incident.
In another development, two male adults travelling in a Toyota Venza which was involved in a road accident along the Ife-Ondo Road, Osun State, have been recovered from a river in Eti-Oni community.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun State, Agnes Ogungbemi, in a statement on Saturday, said the accident occurred last Wednesday when the vehicle plunged into the river.
Ogungbemi said local divers eventually located the vehicle and when it was pulled out, the corpses of the occupants were found.
The FRSC officer, who said the deceased persons were recovered from the river on Friday, added that the accident must have been caused by speeding.
She said, “The local divers located the final resting place of the vehicle. An Hiab towing truck was used to bring the vehicle out of the river, after which two male casualties were discovered as the occupants of the crashed vehicle.
“The relations of the victims were present at the scene. The corpses were buried by the riverside according to the tradition of the community. After the rescue operation, the retrieved crashed vehicle was handed over to the Ifetedo Divisional Police Officer.”
The Osun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Henry Benamaisia, warned motorists against disregarding traffic rules.
