Two Arrested For Vandalising Rail Tracks In Lagos

Two suspects conveying vandalised rail tracks have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command in the Ijora part of the state.

This was made known by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his Twitter handle on Monday.

He said, “At about 1am today, a patrol team from Ijora Badia Division intercepted a Mitsubishi Lancer car conveying vandalised railway tracks. The two occupants of the vehicle have been arrested. Investigation is ongoing.”

Similarly, a suspected pickpocket on Friday escaped lynching after he was caught trying to steal a woman’s phone at Secretariat Bus Stop in the Alausa area of Lagos State.

The woman raise the alarm after she saw the suspect pulling the phone with his hand out of her handbag.

A mob immediately descended on the suspect with sticks and fists as the pickpocket was covered in blood while he pleaded for his life.

Some officers of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps and a policeman later arrived at the scene and tried to calm the situation to no avail.

The woman, who did not identify herself, said the suspect stood behind her while she was waiting to board a commercial bus.

“I sensed that my handbag was moving awkwardly. When I looked back, I saw my phone already in his hand. I tried to grab it from him but I wasn’t strong enough, so I called for help,” she said.

The suspect was later taken in a tricycle to a police station.
