Two Dead, Four Arrested As Hoodlums Razes Kano NNPP Office

At least, two yet-to-be-identified persons have been confirmed dead by the Kano State Police Command in an attack on the campaign office of a House of Representatives candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the state.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of the state, the police added.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement he made available to newsmen in Kano on Monday, a group of suspected thugs set the office ablaze with two unidentified persons in a stationary vehicle inside the building burnt to death.

The spokesperson further said that the command received a distress call over the incident around 4 pm during the collation of results at the INEC office in Tudun Wada Local Government Area.

There was also an attempt by the attackers to block the road leading to the INEC office.

The police image maker said, “Security personnel were immediately mobilised to the scene. One of the thugs was fatally injured and was rushed to Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.”

Kiyawa also disclosed that operatives of the command arrested four other hoodlums and added that investigation is in progress.

Similarly, police foiled an attempt to burn down the INEC office in Takai LGA as election results were being collated.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday around 2:30 pm.

Kiyawa also noted that the police and other security agencies, in a swift response, prevented the attack, and four suspected thugs were arrested.

“The collation of the results was concluded peacefully and an investigation is in progress,” he said.
