No fewer than 512 parcels of cannabis sativa have been intercepted as the Nigerian Army 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi arrested two suspected dealers of the substances concealed in a branded energy drink pickup.
According to Commandant of the 33 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Egbe, operatives of the Brigade intercepted the dealers and the drugs on Monday 23, 2023 at 8: 00 p.m. at Ringin Gani village along Jos road in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The Commandant handed over the suspects and the exhibits recovered from them to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bauchi.
Represented by Acting Garrison Commander, Lt. Col. Abdulrahman Modibbo, Egbe identified the suspected peddlers as Adamu Ali, 32, and Mohammed Idon, 42.
He mentioned the items intercepted in their vehicles to include four bags, 512 parcels of suspected cannabis sativa, and 104 packs of soft drinks used to cover the Indian hemp.

The other items recovered from the suspects are four phones, five ATM cards, a driver’s license, two padlocks, and N13,550 cash.
The commandant warned drug peddlers and law breakers to desist from their criminal acts as there is no escape route for such people in the state.
He also called for cooperation from individuals and groups to tackle the menace.
He said, “They were arrested with the cannabis sativa substance in a branded energy drink pickup with different makeshift compartments inside the vehicles with registration number AKD 654 XT Lagos.”
He urged NDLEA officials to always furnish the Brigade headquarters with the outcome of their investigations for record purposes.
Responding, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics of the Agency, Mr Nimfa Joel, commended the Army for the wonderful efforts and the partnership in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
He assured that the agency would commence investigation into the matter and prosecute the suspects.
