Two suspected female human traffickers have been arrested by personnel of the Ogun State Police command.
The suspects, who were identified simply as Mercy and Itoro, were alleged to have trafficked a lady, identified as Veronica, to Libya for prostitution.
The Iperu Remo Divisional Police Officer, CSP Femi Osowe, NIGERIACRIME gathered, led a team of policemen to effect the arrest of the two suspects on Tuesday, August 31, 2023.
It was disclosed that both Mercy and Itoro allegedly belong to a syndicate that exploited ladies after promising them jobs and better lives abroad.
Nevertheless, Mrs Grace Anthony, the caregiver of their last victim, filed a missing person report with the police, exposing the two alleged human traffickers.
A source said, “On August 27, Mrs Grace Anthony noticed the absence of Veronica, a 29-year-old lady living with her.
“After all efforts to find Veronica proved futile, Grace went on to file a missing person report.”
It was gathered that the police went in search of the victim, but she was not found.

“On August 31, it was discovered that Mercy and Itoro had convinced Veronica and trafficked her to Libya for prostitution.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The Commissioner of Police has been briefed. He described the act as barbaric and inhumane and has ordered that the two women be charged immediately.”
In another development, the combined troops of 192 Battalion and 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison, in conjunction with Hybrid Force, on Thursday, conducted offensive operations within the general areas of Gobara, Ambaga and Madachi in Gwoza Local Government Areas of Borno State.
According to the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement he made available to newsmen, “the troops neutralized three Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one Beretta Pistol, 17 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, four rounds of nine mm ammunition and a dane gun.”
