Two suspected kidnappers arrested as police rescue 7 hostages

Two suspected kidnappers who have been terrorising part of the Federal Capital Territory and Lambata -Kafin-Koro areas of Niger state have been apprehended by the Niger State Police Command.

Niceriacrime.com learned that the suspects identified as Isyaku Anaruwa Abdullahi, 18 years old, of Kwakuti village via Kafin-Koro, Paikoro local government area of Niger state and Muhammadu Sani Yakubu, 21 years old of Paiko-Kore village via Gwagwalada area of FCT Abuja were arrested by the Police tactical teams and local vigilante.

The operatives also rescued seven people abducted and kept in the forest by the syndicate. N2.1M was also recovered from the bandits.

It was learned that the state Police tactical team took the battle to the bandits in their hideout and engaged them in a gun battle that eventually led to the success story.

However, some of the bandits it was gathered escaped from their hideouts and left behind the seven victims kidnapped.

Confirming the development, the state Commissioner of Police, Ogundele Ayodeji through the Command Spokesman DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the Police acted on intelligence received from the public that two male adults were sighted lurking around Lambata-Bonu road, Gurara LGA on Friday.
He said, the DPO of Lambata immediately mobilised Police tactical teams with local vigilante members to the area and arrested the two suspects.

“During interrogation, the duo confessed to being among the kidnapping syndicates terrorizing Gwagwalada FCT Abuja, Lambata and Kafin-Koro areas respectively. Three handsets were recovered from the suspects and a sum of two million, one hundred thousand Naira collected as ransom negotiated to release two victims earlier abducted at Gwagwalada they also confessed that the kidnapped victims were kept at Gwalo forest where they were eventually apprehended.

“In the process, the tactical teams had a gun battle with the abductors in the forest while the hoodlums escaped from the hideout and abandoned seven victims out of which six are males and one female,” the PPRO explained
He added that the victims were rescued unhurt and were taken to Federal Medical Centre,(FMC) Bida for medical attention and have reunited with their families.

Meanwhile, another suspected kidnapper was also arrested in Bate-Ukpo village in Mokwa local government area of the state with a locally fabricated gun and cutlass found in him.

DSP Abiodun said the suspect had confessed to having conspired with one Dogo Yellow and Dogo Mai-Saje, both presently at large to kidnap a person in the village.
He said all suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigations are concluded adding that effort is ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicates.
