The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three policemen for allegedly attempting to kill a commercial motorcyclist, also known as okada rider,, in the Shomolu area of the state.
The policemen, two inspectors and a corporal, are currently facing an orderly room trial at the Provost unit of the command headquarters in Ikeja.
The policemen were accused of firing at a fleeing okada rider who refused to be extorted.
It was learnt that the okada man was accosted by the officers for allegedly violating the state traffic laws.

The policemen were alleged to have demanded a yet to be ascertained amount from the rider.
Reports gathered that the rider, who pretended to be searching for money from his pocket but zoomed off while the policemen reached for their guns.
Consequently, the policemen opened fire at the fleeing okada man.
The video of the policemen opening fire at a fleeing okada man had gone viral, prompting the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, to order for their arrest.
NigeriaCrime had reported that the policeman, who was with some of his colleagues, reportedly requested a bribe from the motorcyclist but got angry that his request was turned down by the rider who sped off.
