Weapon Recovered As Delta Police Nab Suspected Cultist

A suspected cultist, Francis Sunday, has been arrested by operatives of the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol Team in Umunede, Delta State.

This development was made known by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who also disclosed that a locally made cut-to-size pistol was seized from the suspect.

The PPRO said, “On 23/11/2023 at about 1400hrs, one man (name withheld) reported at the station that while an argument ensued between him and his siblings at his residence in Umunede Community, one Francis Sunday, a resident of the same Umunede Community, who was present at the time of altercation was ordered to leave the premises.

“The said Francis Sunday became furiously hostile, and went ahead to pull out a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol, threatening to kill anyone who tried to walk him out of the residence.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, operatives swung into action, and on 24/11/2023 at about 1230hrs, the operatives of the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol Team stormed the residence of the complainant at No. 7 Old Agbor Road, Umunede where the alleged suspect was arrested.

“Preliminary investigation led the operatives to search his residence at Mbiri Community Umunede, where one locally made cut-to-size pistol was recovered. The suspect and exhibit are in custody, and investigation has commenced.”

In a separate development, the Imo State Police Command says it has set up a high-powered investigating team to clamp down on the killers of the traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara, in Ezinihitte Mbaise Council Area of Imo State, Eze Joe-Benz Ochulor.

NIGERIACRIME reported that the gunmen had on Saturday, kidnapped the monarch but his lifeless body was later discovered on Sunday.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye told newsmen in Owerri on Monday that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma had ordered that no stone be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are apprehended.

“The PPRO said, the CP vowed that the Command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“Accordingly, the CP has set up a high-powered Investigating team and charged them to go all out and clamp down on the assailants.

“The CP calls on the general public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police by providing useful information that may assist in the apprehension of the suspects.”
