Woman, 7-year-old son crushed to death in Ondo

A woman and her 7-year-old son were reportedly crushed to death by a trailer along Akure-Owo expressway in Ondo state on Sunday.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the mother who was in her forties and the son were coming from Church on Sunday when they were crushed to death.

Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ondo Sector Command, said that the crash occurred at the Federal Government Girls College in Akure metropolis.

The state Sector Commander, Mr Ezekiel Son’Allah, blamed the cause of the accident on overspeeding, which resulted in a loss of control on the part of the driver.

Son’Allah said “Two persons, a male and a female, lost their lives and one person sustained injury in the accident. The identities of the victims are yet to be identified.

An Eyewitness account said that the unmarked trailer, crushed the victims on a motorcycle and they died on the spot.

The trailer, a Mercedes Benz model was said to have made contact with the motorbike resulting in the accident.

In a related development, five persons narrowly escaped death on Sunday as a tipper lorry fell off the ever-busy Udu Bridge, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State leading to panic.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the victims sustained various degrees of injury when the lorry lost control, following a brake failure and crashed into the rails of the bridge.

The incident led to multiple crashes before falling off the bridge. It was learned that a car and tricycle crashed into the tipper from behind during the process when it lost control, causing serious damage to the occupants and their automobiles.

An eyewitness said about five persons who were seriously injured had been admitted to the hospital.

As of press time, the fallen tipper was still under the bridge.
