Woman selling voters cards: arrested, arraigned in court

A 41-year-old woman, Chinwendu Nnamani seen and alleged to be selling INEC Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) at the sum of one thousand naira (N1,000.00), at Emene Enugu in the video clip that has gone viral on social media has been arrested.

Chinwendu was arrested by Police Detectives serving in the State CID of Enugu State Command, on January 31.

Also arrested is one Nkiruka Patience Obinna aged 38, identified as an INEC Staff and alleged to have given the said Cards to the first suspect for distribution to the actual owners.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the Chinwendu Nnamani was arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigation.

Confirming the arrest, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, said the investigation has been concluded, the case charged to court, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the suspects arraigned accordingly. The suspects were granted bail and the case adjourned to 15/02/2023 for further hearing.

In a related development operatives attached to the Enugu state police command has arrested three male armed robbery suspects.

The suspects identified as Chukwuneku Monday (a.k.a “Boss”) aged 39 and Agu Emmanuel (a.k.a “Fuckoyor”) aged 22, were arrested in their criminal hideout at New Artisan Enugu, on January 23, 2023; while Nnamani Monday (a.k.a “Sewa”) aged 21, was also arrested on January 31, following the confessional statements of the others.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that their arrest, which was actualised through the combined efforts of Police Operatives and Detectives of Enugu State Command, respectively serving in Awkunanaw Police Division and the Anti-Robbery Section of the State CID Enugu.

Two (2) locally-fabricated pistols, including one (1) Chief Revolver pistol with eight (8) live 9.mm calibre of ammunition were recovered from them.

The suspects, who confessed to having perpetrated acts of armed robbery and other heinous crimes in different parts of Enugu metropolis and its environment, will be arraigned in court once the consolidated investigation into the case is concluded at the State CID Enugu.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani, while commending the efforts of the Police Officers involved in the operational breakthrough, has enjoined citizens of the State to remain law-abiding and continue to assist the Command with credible information and/or intelligence she requires to rid the State of unrepentant criminals and the actualisation of a secured, peaceful, credible and acceptable 2023 General Elections in the State.
