Young man kidnaps father, collects N2.5M ransom

A young man Issa Naigheti who conspired with two others to kidnap his father is currently being investigated by police officers attached to the Anti-Kidnapping squad of Kwara State Police Command, Ilorin.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that Issa and his team who conspired to kidnap his father collected N2.5M before he was released.

The spokesperson of the police command, Ajayi Okasanmi said that Issa and the two suspects kidnapped the father in Igboho in Oyo state, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects, now on the run.

Okasanmi also stated that the suspect was arrested in Kambi area of Ilorin adding that the case would be transferred to Oyo state for prosecution after the fleeing suspects have been arrested.

According to him, members of the command’s anti-kidnapping team arrested one Issa Naigheti “m” on 4/1/2023 around Kambi area of Ilorin while on the trail of suspected kidnappers; he confessed under interrogation to having conspired with two others to kidnap his father, one Bature Naigboho “m,” in Igboho/Igbeti area of Oyo State, and the sum of #2.5 million was collected as ransom.

“Efforts are ongoing to arrest his other accomplices, and the case would be transferred to Oyo State, the venue of the crime.”

In another development, the command stated that it has beefed up watertight security around INEC facilities in the state to prevent any untoward attack by hoodlums.

Speaking on the security of election materials kept in INEC office, Police Commissioner Paul Odama reportedly told police officers on duty during his unscheduled visit to the INEC office to be sensitive to the developments around them.

He stated that already elections materials BVAS, Computers and others have been kept in safe custody in INEC office in Ilorin.

“In a bid to ensure that the security arrangements in and around INEC facilities in Kwara State, particularly the headquarters in Ilorin, are watertight, the commissioner of police in Kwara State, Cp Paul Odama psc (+), has paid an unscheduled visit to the INEC State headquarters in Ilorin.

“The CP was received on arrival by the HOD ICT, Mr. Yinusa Musa, who conducted the commissioner of police round the facility, where some of the election materials already received by INEC, e.g., BVAS, computers, and other materials were kept.

“The CP, who commended the policemen and other security men on duty, took time to advise the officers to be alert at all times and be very sensitive to what was happening around them.”
