Two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission have been kidnapped in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The suspects are the Electoral Officer and the Returning Officer for the State governorship election in the Maradun LGA.
According to reports, the officials were kidnapped on Monday in the local government area in the hometown of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle.
They were whisked away to an undisclosed location while on their way to the headquarters of the Commission in Gusau, the state capital.
The Public Relations Officer of the state’s INEC, Muktari Janyau stated that the matter had been reported to the police.

Janyau said, “The Resident Electoral commissioner in charge of Zamfara state, Professor Sa,idu Babura Ahmed has reported the issue to the police commissioner for appropriate action.”
In another news, one person died, while six others were injured in a multiple road crash in Ilorin, Kwara state capital on Monday.
The accident, which occurred at about 1820 hours at Coca-Cola junction on Asa Dam road, involved a crane vehicle, a tricycle and a commercial vehicle.
According to the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kwara state command, Frederick Ade Ogidan, who confirmed the development, eight people were involved in the accident.
He said six persons were injured, comprising five males and one female, while one male was killed in the crash.
Ogidan disclosed that the injured victims were taken to the Oke-Oyi University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
