1 killed as bandits abduct scores in Zamfara for not paying levy

An indigene of Zamfara state has been killed by a notorious bandit, Damina and his team who allegedly attacked the Mutunji community in Zamfara State and abducted many others including women and children.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that Damina had terrified the community and imposed over a hundred million Naira levy on farmers before they would be allowed to access their farms.

According to a source, “However, a local who craved anonymity said on Saturday, that the bandits attacked the community in the night.

According to him, “the latest attack was because the farmers could not pay N110 million levy imposed on them by Damina.”

“The bandits came on motorcycles, encircled the community and went away with the people on Friday night. We need help, the situation is beyond our control. ”

” Two weeks ago there was confusion amongst the bandits after they were hit by a plane. The bandits asked the people of Mutunji to give them N50 million. Those in Kwana to give N30 million, Mahuta 20 million, Unguwan Kawo 10 million. That’s a total of N110 million demanded by Damina. ”

“As of Friday, the locals could not be able to meet the bandits ‘ demand. Damina came to Mutunji and killed one, inflicted injury on another and took over a hundred people to the forest.”

“Damina and his men operated between 9.40 pm and around 11 pm. He took what he wanted and left. He said they must give him the sum of N110 million, that the villages mentioned must give him that money.”

“Previously, he was given 8 million, 10 million, even 20 million was given to him. Unspecified amounts were given, we should just leave the matter to Almighty Allah,” he said.

He alleged that those abducted included men, women and even children. He called on the authorities to come to their rescue.

Recently, it was reported that 15 locals were abducted in a community within the Local Government Area.

When contacted, the spokesperson of 1 Division of the Nigerian Army; Lt.Col Musa Yahaya, said the area was under the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army.
