2 killed, 3 injured as Gunmen invade Kwara Community

Two persons have been killed, three others sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries as gunmen invaded Alalubosa community, Oko Olowo in the Asa local government area of Kwara state.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the hoodlums entered the community, shooting sporadically, while pandemonium ensued making residents run helter skelter for safety.

Sources said that the gunmen stormed the community at about 10 p.m. when the residents were enjoying cool weather outside their houses, adding that the residents ran for their lives when the attackers decided to attack the houses one after another.

According to one of the sources who craved anonymity said, “One girl, Semiat Mukaila, was shot in the arm, while Abdullahi Awe’s leg was broken with a gun butt. They are both receiving treatment at the hospital now. The hoodlums also shot Isiaq Abdullahi in the arm.

“After they shot another resident, AbdulRasheed Alafara, on the leg and he tried to escape from the scene, the attackers pursued him and gave him machete cuts until he died.

“The members of the vigilante team also succeeded in killing one of the suspected kidnappers”.

Reports also had it that the gunmen, numbering six, rained bullets for more than 30 minutes when they entered the community, and that members of the local vigilante team were able to gun down one of the hoodlums while others ran away.

The source in the area gave kudos for the bravery of the men of the local vigilante team, appealing to concerned authorities to provide them with adequate ammunition to combat insurgents.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the report, said that the police command had drafted its men to the scene since 1:00 a.m. when it got the report.

In a related development, bandits have killed six people in Takanai community of Atyap Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The acting Secretary to the District Head of the affected community, Samson Markus said the bandits attacked the community on Tuesday night and killed the people.

According to him, “We were going about our normal businesses when we heard gunshots, we thought it was the military at first..before the military came they killed six persons, including 2 children.”

“The arrival of the military was what scared them, and they took to their heels and left the community. Unfortunately, this kind of sad incident continues to happen in our villages when we thought normalcy had returned.”

“We appealed to the government and the military to redouble their efforts and declare war against these terrorists who invaded villages and killed innocent people.”

About 5 days ago, a neighbouring community in Kaura was attacked by bandits where a mother was killed and her children kidnapped.
