2 siblings arraigned for killing their cousin, stealing his motorcycle

Two siblings, Aliyu Halidu and Farouq Halidu have been arraigned in an Ilorin Magistrate court by the Kwara State Police Command for allegedly killing their cousin, Idris Hamah, to dispossess his motorcycle.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that suspects were arraigned for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and armed robbery contrary to 97 and 221 of the penal code and 6(B) 1(2) to robbery and firearms special provisions Act.

According to the charge sheet, the suspects “ambushed Hamah, their cousin, and beat him with a stick till he died before they slaughtered him and went away with his new Bajaj motorcycle while coming from Gwasera market in Baruten local government”.

They were however arrested by troops of the Nigerian Army deployed to Forward Operation Base, Karunji in Baruten local government.

Prosecutor, Innocent Owoola urged the court to remand them pending the outcome of the investigation.

In her ruling, Magistrate Omotayo Adebosin ordered their remand and adjourned till April 18, 2023.

In a related development, a driver of a Mack Trailer driver, Olatoyosi Abiodun that ran into a house and killed three occupants of the building have been arraigned before Isabo magistrate court.

Nigeriacrime.com gathered that the truck driver, Olatoyosi Abiodun was arraigned by the Ogun state Police Command on Friday 31st of March 2023.

The driver, Olatoyosi Abiodun, who ran away from the scene of the accident but was later arrested was charged to court on six counts charges of dangerous driving, causing the death of three persons as well as causing damage to three other vehicles among other charges.

The driver, Olatoyosi Abiodun who drove a Mack tanker trailer with registration number Lagos T 1532 LA on the 24th of March 2023, lost control of the truck and ran into a dwelling house after crushing three other vehicles and subsequently caused the death of three occupants of the house.

According to SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Police Command, the driver escaped from the scene and ran away, but was later traced to Ibadan, where he was arrested on the 27th of March 2023, and subsequently arraigned before the court on six count charges.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Frank Mba, has warned drivers, especially those driving articulated vehicles to always ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy before putting such vehicles on the road.

The CP also warned that the drivers of articulated vehicles should always be mindful of other road users while on the wheel to avoid unnecessary loss of life on our roads.
