Operatives attached to Akwa Ibom state police command have arrested 22 suspects in connection with Wednesday’s murder of its personnel, Inspector Usang Egbe, other victims and for cult activities in the state.
Nigeriacrime.com learned that the arrests, including that of alleged serial murderer, Emem Ime Friday, were made between 31st January and 2nd February 2024.
Confirming the development, SP Odiko Macdon, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom state explained that the, “Command will intensify its onslaught against criminal elements in the State and wishes to inform Akwa Ibomites that perpetrators of heinous crimes will be brought to book.
“On 30/01/24, at about 11:30PM, relying on credible intelligence, Anti- Cultism Unit of the Command arrested one Emem Ime Friday, alias Barracks, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA who masterminded the Inen Clan Cult War.
“In 2022, he orchestrated the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, one Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him, severed his manhood and fled to Rivers State. In 2020, he allegedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th, Udeme Unwucha, Okon Ubok Udom on 16th September and Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James and Gilbert Akpan on 24th November of the year.
“Also, on 22/1/2024 at about 5:15pm, following actionable intelligence, Operatives of Ika Division arrested Emmanuel Francis Daniel ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Otomo village in Ika LGA, for killing one Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh ‘m’ aged about 58years of Nket Abak village in Ukanafun LGA, the Pastor of Jesus Power Ministry in Ikot Esu village in Ika LGA in Akwa Ibom.
“The suspect together with others now at large, shot the Pastor to death in the church. Effort is on to arrest other fleeing suspects.
“Similarly, On 23/1/2023, one Happiness Isaiah Ekanem ‘f’ and 3 others of Ikono L.G.A., who conspired and killed one Imo Isaiah Ekanem ‘m’ aged 32years of same address by beating him to death and secretly buried the corpse have been arrested and investigation ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police is Committed to the peace and safety of all Residents of Akwa Ibom State
