23-Year-Old Murder Suspect Blames Indian Hemp

A 23-year-old murder suspect, Abdulafeez Shorinmade, has blamed the influence of smoking Indian hemp for his actions.

The suspect, who claimed to be a barbing apprentice in the town, was apprehended by operatives of the Osun State Police Command, for allegedly killing an 18-year-old girl, Rofiyah Rasaki.

According to reports available to NIGERIACRIME, the incident happened on October 10, 2022 in Iwo at about 9:30pm. The suspect was said to have stabbed the teenager in the neck and left her to bleed to death.

Also, Shorinmade stormed another place in the town; Soba compound and stabbed another 18-year-old, Sawiyu Nasrah, on the chin before residents caught him while attempting to flee.

The suspects told newsmen, during his parade at the command headquarter in Osogbo that he was directed to kill by a spirit due to the Indian hemp he smoked.

His words, “I am under the influence of some spirit. After smoking Indian hemp, I do hear a voice commanding me to do some evil things.

“On the said day, I smoked Indian hemp and while I was returning from mosque the spirit overtook me. At that moment I was walking behind the girl and I stabbed her with a scissors I picked on the road. I didn’t know she later died.

“After stabbing her, the spirit told me to run away and I did. Few minutes later I saw another girl and the spirit urged me to stab her and I did. While I was running away, the spirit also told me to stop and I was caught by residents around the community”.

He, however, said since he was arrested, the spirit has not communicated with him.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola who spoke with newsmen said the suspect will be arraigned in court after thorough investigation.
