3 arrested as controversy trails death of 21-year-old at a party

Three friends have been arrested, as police attempt to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of a 21-year-old man, Michael Arigbabuwo who lost his life at a birthday party.

Michael Arigbabuwo died in Igbogbo, Ikorodu area of Lagos after allegedly mixing two hard drugs, loud and code for maximum satisfaction.

NigeriaCrime.com learned that the birthday celebration took a different turn when Michael Arigbabuwo began to gasp for breath after smoking loud and drinking codeine at the party.

However, he was confirmed dead at the hospital where he was rushed to.

It was gathered that at about 7.30 p.m. on Friday, the police in Ikorodu received a distress call that some group of Yahoo Yahoo boys brought a lifeless young man to Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.

Sequel to the information, teams of detectives visited and photographed the scene.

While the corpse was evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, for autopsy.

Three young men between the of ages 23 and 24 have also been arrested.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO) in Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the incident happened on Friday in Ikorodu area of Lagos, stressing that three friends of the deceased who were also at the party had been arrested.

Hundeyin stated that information received by the police in Ikorodu revealed that at about 7.30 p.m. on Friday, a distress call came that some group of Yahoo Yahoo boys brought a corpse to Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.

Based on the information, teams of detectives visited and photographed the scene. Three young men of ages 23 and 24 were arrested.

The suspects claimed that the deceased allegedly smoked loud and drank codeine at a birthday party of one of their friends held in Igbogbo area of Ikorodu.

The suspects further claimed that the deceased began gasping for breath. He was rushed to the hospital but died,” he said.

The PPRO said that the corpse was evacuated and deposited at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, for autopsy.

Hundeyin warned youths against drug abuse, stressing that drugs will end their lives in a disaster.

Investigation into the case has commenced,” he added.

Recall that some months back when two adults, a male and female, were seen walking stark naked round in broad daylight at an estate in Lekki after reportedly consuming hard drugs.
