3 terrorists killed as troops recover arms in Zamfara State

Three terrorists have been neutralised during a gunfight with Troops of the Nigerian Army fighting to rid Zamfara of criminal elements.

Nigeriacrime.com learned that the terrorists were killed when the troops stormed their hideout in some villages on Monday.
Also, some of the terrorists escaped with gunshot injuries.

Confirming the incident, Director of Defence Media Operations, Major Gen Musa Danmadami said troops recovered arms and ammunition as well as logistics materials after the encounter.

Danmadami said, “Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji on Monday 12 June 2023 conducted an ambush operation to bandits hideout at Kairu/Kyaram villages in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“During the operation, troops made contact with terrorists and following a firefight, three (3) terrorists were neutralized.

“Troops also recovered two (2) AK 47 rifles, one (1) pump action gun, three (3) motorcycles and other sundry items.

“The military high command commends troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and encourages the general public to avail troops with credible and timely information on terrorist and all criminal activities within their area.”

In a related development, the Chancellor of Kafanchan Diocese, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel U. Okolo has announced that Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Yakubu, the abducted Kaduna Catholic Priest, has regained freedom from his captors.

Father Okolo said that “With hearts filled with joy, we raise our voices in a symphony of praises as we announce the return of our brother, Rev. Fr. Jeremiah Yakubu, who was abducted by armed persons from the Rectory at Holy Trinity Parish, Karku, in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, at the late hours of Sunday, June 11, 2023.”

He stated that Fr. Jerry was released on Monday evening, 12 June 2023 and thanked all those who have offered prayers and entreaties for the quick release of their priests and others who are still in captivity.

He stated that all their Priests were directed to kindly celebrate Mass of Thanksgiving to God on 13 June 2023 for the quick release of Fr. Jerry Yakubu.
