There was jubilation in the Tudun Wada area of Jos, Plateau State as a three-year-old girl was discovered inside an abandoned well.
The girl who was identified as Lydia Azatyom had spent three days in the well before she was found.
The minor was last seen on Thursday, October 27, 2022 when she was reportedly playing with her friends outside their compound before she went missing.
This was said to have traumatised her family and neighbours who made frantic efforts to locate her whereabouts.
All efforts put in to find Lydia were futile until three days later when one Dauda Dung broke the news that the three-year-old has been found in the abandoned well.
A couple of young men found the girl inside the abandoned well in an uncompleted building within the area.
It was reported that the young men had visited the site to defecate and heard sounds of movement inside the dry well. It was also learnt that the building has long been abandoned and is now used for open defecation and dumping.
Lydia had bruises around her head and was rushed to the hospital where she is currently receiving medical attention.
It is however yet to be ascertained if Lydia mistakenly fell into the well or if someone dumped her there.
