31 Suspected Criminals Arrested, Paraded By Ondo Amotekun

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps has arrested at least 31 suspected criminals within the state on Wednesday.

This was made known by the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in the State, Adetunji Adeleye, who disclosed to newsmen that the suspected criminals were arrested in various parts of the state during the Easter and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

According to the commander, the suspects, who are in their custody, were involved in crimes ranging from raping, illegal grazing, kidnapping, armed robbery and murder.

In reference to the Ikare Akoko crisis, Adeleye, who also serves as the Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Security Matters, vowed that going forward, security agencies would take serious action against anyone inciting unrest in the community.

Furthermore, Adeleye guaranteed that Ikare Akoko is now safe for potential Corps members and NYSC officials to perform orientation programs at Orientation Camp situated in the town.

While urging residents of the state to be security conscious, the Amotekun boss disclosed that herdsmen have renewed attempts to flood forests in the state.

He said only herdsmen who registered with the state government would be allowed in the state.

“The trend has been on for a long time, especially in the last month, but we are now working on different modalities of ensuring that herders that are legitimate to be in the state are here.

“The ones who are criminals and are not supposed to be in the state are driven out of our forests. Also, we are making efforts towards the border towns because we noticed that those that found their ways now to Ondo are through Ekiti State,” he added.

Adeleye who said the corps was determined to make the region uncomfortable for criminals, added that all the suspects paraded would be charged.
